Building together toward a sustainable future for the Caribbean Islands

Future Islands

Future Islands is an independent knowledge and collaboration platform that supports and contributes to the sustainability of the countries within the Caribbean part of the Kingdom.
We bring people, organizations, and knowledge together to take concrete steps toward a future in which the islands are self-sufficient, climate-resilient, and connected — with respect for nature, culture, and community.

Our focus

Sustainable Aviation

Aviation is essential for accessibility and economic cohesion in the Caribbean region, but requires continuous attention to knowledge, safety, and future resilience. Future Islands stimulates knowledge sharing and collaboration between education, industry, and government to strengthen aviation knowledge and provide prospects for new generations within the Caribbean part of the Kingdom.

Sustainable Built Environment

The growth of housing, the economy, and tourism demands conscious choices in how we build in the Caribbean region. Future Islands encourages knowledge sharing and dialogue about sustainable and climate-resilient building that fits the tropical climate and local context, and coordinates the Caribbean delegation to the Built Environment Climate Summit, where knowledge exchange and collaboration are central.

Future Islands operates at the intersection of knowledge sharing, collaboration, and action — acting as a bridge between local initiatives and national strategies, between the countries and the Netherlands.
